Greetings! I'm an illustrator living in central Vermont, where I draw tales of beast and bramble.
My drawing sessions begin with quick sketches and value studies, exploring the angles and curves of my subjects and arranging light and dark shapes. Final drawings are a slow, many-layered process using pencils, brushed-on graphite powder, and erasers. When a character emerges clearer on paper than it was in my mind, I feel I'm shaking paws with an old friend.
I am self-taught, and for me, the learning process is part determination and part observation (of my surroundings as well as the art of others), but mostly practice - working through self-doubt and beyond drawings-gone-wrong, to emerge with a picture I am pleased with.
